ECSA is committed to promoting sailboat racing and one of our methods is the ECSA Grant Fund. It is designed to provide financial help to serious racers who are mounting a regional, national or international campaign. If you are mounting a serious racing campaign, send the ECSA Board of Directors a letter explaining your campaign, plans and expenses. The Board meets monthly to decide which requests merit consideration. You can help by donating to the Grant Fund when you become a member, and you can do it on line. WindCheck Magazine's October article  "Sound People": Bruce Lockwood   When One More Time won the Farr 30 class at Block Island Race Week last summer, owner Bruce Lockwood attained a goal he’d sought since his first Block Island Race Week in 1967. “I’ve raced a lot of different boats at Race Week since then,” says Bruce. “We usually ended up second or third, so this was an achievement.” Bruce grew up in Ohio and spent several summers at Nassau Point, NY. “I started sailing with my folks on a large schooner when I was four years old,” he recalls. “Five or six years later, my family got a Cape Cod Knockabout and got into class boat racing on Peconic Bay. The Comet was designed around that time and we started racing them, and we had Lightning #123 that we raced on Lake Pymatuning in the spring and fall. We started sailing a 30-foot Alden gaff-rigged sloop on Peconic Bay in 1938 and had a lot of fun. We raced a Herreshoff Newport 29 named Dolphin for 53 years, including many Vineyard Races.”   Click here for more...
