Dave Perry of Southport, CT will be discussing 2009-2012 changes in the Racing Rules of Sailing with an interactive discussion.

Dave Perry of Southport, CT, is perhaps best known for his book "Understanding the Racing Rules of Sailing" in which he translates the racing rules into clear tips for the everyday sailor. First published in 1985, the book has brought Dave and his advice into the homes of countless sailors in the U.S. and around the world. For those sailors who have been lucky enough to ever attend one of Dave's many talks, his animated and humorous explanations of The Racing Rules of Sailing have no doubt inspired you to improve your skills. Over the years, Dave has won numerous local, regional, national and international regattas (he recently qualified to represent the USA at the ISAF Nation's Cup).

But Dave is more than a guy who's just passionate about racing a sailboat around the buoys. Dave has found his calling within the sailing industry - he gets to talk about sailing for a living! He is a popular speaker on the Mount Gay Rum Speaker Series circuit and will be an instructor for the US SAILING Racing Rules Seminars presented by North U in 2009. And he is chairman of the US SAILING Appeals Committee. Dave's easy-to-understand explanations of the racing rules and his ability to explain and clarify tactics on the water continue to help bring many sailors into the sport, and help all sailors improve their results
